Current: ffado -- libraw1394 --|-- raw1394 -- ieee1394 -- ohci1394 Alternatively (may not fully work at the moment, but should get fixed): ffado -- libraw1394 --|-- firewire-core -- firewire-ohci "Port ffado to the new stack" likely means: ffado --|-- firewire-core -- firewire-ohci --|-- denotes the boundary between userspace and kernelspace. > ... it will still be limited to supported hardware -- or > perhaps it will have a smaller set of supported hardware initially? Support of FireWire controllers by the new drivers is currently catching up with the old drivers. The long-term goal is even more solid support of controllers due to improved maintainability of the kernel code base. Status summary: http://ieee1394.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Juju_Migration Support of FireWire audio devices is independent of which kernel backend ffado eventually uses.
