i have posted this on quake.nu under username krohm but got no real responses.. the responsiveness of my mouse slows down and slows down, and slows down.. i have no fcking idea whats causing this but it cant be my mouse as ive changed mouse, os, settings, clean install new configs.. everything.

in_restart or vid_restart resolves the problem temporarily. the longer i play the worse it gets.. only time it is good is for the first 30 seconds or so when i first boot the machine up. why would that be? could a ezquake developer assist please on some feedback on that? could it be a gcard problem?? i had problems with it earlier and the fan had to be makeshift replaced.. soundcard is onboard.. i have no idea

i have tried fcking everything and its basically preventing me from playing cause of how slow it gets and how fluctuating etc. in_mouse 1 seems to have a lesser effect then 2 and 3 but i still have to in_restart constantly. ive tried multiple ezquake versions, multiple os's, multiple mice and the same problem no matter what. i have a sony crt so have run 100, 120 140 150 hz.. 308 fps. it looks jerky as if frames are dropping unless i run on high hz and high fps?? every possible setting change, clean installs, EVERYTHING. i cant have a consistant game and i have absolutely nowhere to turn on what to do.. why would in_restart slightly fix the problem? please please help i have nothing else to do

    My random ideas:
    - broken drivers (you don't mention if you tried different drivers, probably you had)
    - spyware catching all input, keyboard and mouse

Could you describe more precisely how that 'less responsiveness' effect behaves?
It adds more and more delay to your mouse control? Can you tell only by moving the mouse or it affects also keyboard input? Can you tell it's happening by just looking at the screen (not using keyboard/mouse)?

Does it happen with older client versions? Does it happen with FuhQuake?

thanks for the reply.. tried multiple setpoint versions all cause same problem.. no spyware have installed fresh OS's multiples times..
does seem to affect keyboard aswell now that u mention it.. but more so the mouse.. in_restart will somewhat resolve the problem but nowhere near as fast as if i cold boot and then load quake off a fresh startup. then it just goes downhill from there..

less responsiveness.. uhmm.. its like the mouse is pulled.. its difficult to explain. but its labored movement/responsiveness.. slowed down. slower to get moving and not as responsive. yes i can tell by the screen. to be honest i havent really thought about the keyboard.. but it may be slower aswell. it does seem not just the movement of mouse but side to side keyboard etc. not as pronounced though. does happen with older ez versions.. havent tried fuhquake.

thanks again for the reply.. could this be a motherboard problem.. like a problem with the usb ports or something? have tried in different usb ports on the mb.. same problem..

    thanks again for the reply

cant believe i havent noticed but yes side to side movement from keyboard is delayed also. first enter quake and its ok but few rocket jumps later the responsiveness slows. quit quake and reload and it is ok again if only for 30 seconds. surely must be my usb ports? a mb problem?

You say you've changed every setting, have you played with sys_yieldcpu and sys_highpriority, do they make a difference ?

  • Nobody/Anonymous

yes of course, tried a rediculous ammount of sht

definatley keyboard responsiveness aswell. it somewhat increases its responsiveness when vid_restart and in_restart but nowhere near the way it is when i first load up quake..

does this happen only when alt-tabbing in and out?

  • Nobody/Anonymous

no, it happens in game almost immediately after loading it. alt_tabbing actually resolves the issue somewhat, if only temporarily, like im doing a vid_restart. could this be hardware ?

can i please get some feedback on what this problem could be.. its so much smoother and faster when i first go into quake then a few minutes in. now what could that be? seriously i have tested this for 100s of hours. what could the problem be if everytime i quit then reload quake its faster then it was. please can i get some feedback on this as im thinking about going to buy a new pc to try and resolve the problem.

Try with fuhquake and some other old clients too, mqwcl, zquake, qwcl

What operating system are you running at the moment ?
    Does other games work ?
Have you increased your USB polling frequency (500/1000hz) ?
Which motherboard do you have ?

  • Nobody/Anonymous

had 1000hz when i had g5 and have 500 with new mx518. have installed xp, xp64 vista and vista64.. all same problem.

    system is:

    dual core 6600 @ 2.4ghz
    nvidia geforce 7950 gt
    gigabyte ga-965sp-ds3 motherboard
    sony 21 crt

afraid it may be my motherboard...

    any ideas?

johnnycz.. have tried zquake, same problem. fuhquake i think i have tried.. not 100%.. will dload tomorrow and try it
