Forgot to mention the MacBook is a 2006 model.
I am pretty sure the processor is 32 bit, so that can have something to do with the crashing.
I can confirm this in my 10.6 VM. To circumvent this for now, right click on the exult.app and choose "open in rosetta". This will use the ppc binary and audiomixer doesn't crash.
I'll see if I can fix this.
Thanks Dominik, for some reason I don't get the open in rosetta option, although I justs installed Rosetta.
that's odd but the latest snapshot should work right away, without having to chose rosetta. If not please tell me.

SDK and MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET= stuff got tangled up. Not totally resolved (intel OS X 10.5 users will likely have problems but right now this should hold!).
Current snpashot on our download page should work again.
