I don't know how to check out from CVS (I'm no programmer).
I just downloaded the package from sourceforge.
I already downloaded the previous version (1.95.5) and it
compiled fine. It works (almos) perfectly except that I get
a segmentation fault with my perl script on Mac OS while I
get none on Intel Solaris with expat 1.95.6.

Stephen, I'd really appreciate it if you could try this
package on your platforms; I'd like to release 1.95.7 soon
(it's been delayed too many times already).

It compiled fine on Intel Solaris 9
It also compiled fine on Mac OS X 10.2.8
I still get segmentation faults with my perl script on Mac
OS. But this might be a problem with perl itself. I don't
know how to tell who is to blame: expat, XML::Parser,
XML::wig or perl

Could this be a duplicate of (closed) bug #765227 ?
In any case, please check out from CVS and try again.
This might solve your problem.
Assigned to Fred, as he claims to have access
to a Mac OS X system.

In that case you will need to ask someone who knows
how to check out from CVS, or wait for Expat 1.95.7.

I no longer have really easy access to a Mac OS X box; might
be able to get to it from remote.

There is now a snapshot of the current code from CVS on the
Expat website at this URL:

Looks like it is working now, so we can close this bug.
