Take a look at the "Developer's Guide" (http://exist-db.org/devguide.html#N102FB) in the "Sorting results" section. I haven't seen any option to select ascending or descending order but you could just retrieve the data forward (for first to last) or backwards (from last to first) depending on wich way you want it to be sorted.
