Please review what I posted previously about 
Database.setProperty("exist-home"). I posted the whole example as an 
attachment. But I don't know if it got through because I never get to 
see my own emails on the list.

If the get/setProperties is the standard "dbxml" strategy for 
configuring the underlying Implimentation then that seems the 
appropriate means for getting alternate config location info into the 
DatabaseImpl.
