The <ignore/> option is only available with the Lucene index. In general, I would assume that a range index is most useful on smaller chunks of text, whereas a full text index can easily span an entire section. So far I did not see the need to exclude certain subelements from a range index? Also, since the range index is used through the standard XQuery operators, it has to behave in a comparable way.
