Just out of curiosity (I have no problems with your proposal whatsoever):
What kind of use-case would need two serializers? Could you show me the
entries in the conf.xml?

Hi everyone,

As I was adding my custom-filters to the <serializer> portion of the
conf.xml I noticed that the schema says I can only have one, which would
have really ruined my day. So, I tried putting in both my filters and it
worked just as I would hope (both were applied, in order). 

Anyway, my point is, unless there is any opposition I'm going to change the
schema to have maxOccurs="unbounded". Cool?
