I do not immediately see the relation between "cannot convert" and the JMX settings. But, well maybe the sandbox provides you the wrong information.

- please could you re-check the query either with the Java client, or by storing the xquery in the database and calling it via REST?
- the stack trace you sent is the stacktrace on the client-side. Please check the exist.log on the server (plus stdout) and look there for ERRORs or stackstraces.
