Hi Jordan, > I created a backup using the emergency export tool and after I imported it > in to a new database I noticed that some of my directories were missing. If the collection hierarchy is damaged, the export tool may have problems to assign a resource to the correct collection. Recovered documents which could not be assigned will be saved into the _lost_and_found_ directory within the zip. Another way to recover more files is to enable the "Direct access" checkbox in the export dialog. This will bypass the collection store and directly scan dom.dbx. > So I went into the zip file to see what was going on. Some of the > directories were there (Some were totally missing). Although the ones that > were in the zip file but did not make it into the database did not have > entries in the __contents__.xml This is strange. The export tool should really produce a consistent backup, even if resources are damaged. The generated log should tell you which resources or collections caused problems. If no error is reported, the backup should really be ok. Concering ownership and permissions, I wonder which version of eXist you are using? I recently had some problems with the code in trunk, due to the redesigned security backend. Wolfgang |
