There is a locking mechanism behind the scenes. The easiest way to see what will happen is to get a couple of thousand documents and upload them from 2 separate threads. The way it *should* work is that each thread will end about the same time, but the overall time to upload will be about twice the time it would take for a single upload set. Subject: [Exist-open] Uploading a huge amount of documents in a multi user environment Hi all, we are currently on to develop some kind of "Import Tool", with which users can upload collections of XML douments into eXist. My question is: What happens, if maybe 5 users try to upload their documents into eXist at the same time, each user about 1000 to 10 000 documents? Is this possible simultaneously or is it safer to have some kind of lock mechanism? (the import tool uses the Java XMLDB API) Are there any experiences / references with uploading a huge amount of documents in a multi user environment?
