Take "if" statements for what they are : (conditional) sequence=20
constructors.

Everytime you can use a sequence (including an item, which is a sequence=20
of cardinality 1, or an empty sequence whose cardinality is 0), you can=20
use an "if" statement (which is an XPAth 2.0 statement BTW).
