Hello, we´re considering using Exist in a project of ours, but there are some questions I could not find answers to in the Exist website. This project have the following requirements regarding use of an XML database: 1. store lots of small XML documents (hundreds for sure, maybe thousands) 2. stored documents will be served to clients using HTTP 3. lots of updates in the values of elements of the XML documents (the updates will be done by the clients who previously got the document by HTTP). The updates will also be done by HTTP. 4. some simple queries (will not be used very often) We would like to access our Exist database through a servlet running in a Tomcat 5.5 server. On average we expect that this server will have to handle 300 hits/second (serving and updating XML documents). What I would like to know is: - Is Exist considered a stable database? - Does Exist have good performance and scales well? - Is Exist robust? - The clustering features of Exist are stable and have good performance? Looking in the Exist site we were very happy to know that Exist have all the features we need (XQuery, XUpdate, indexing, etc.), but the questions about performance are very important for us too. Regards, Ivens |
