[Exist-open] How to assign the result of </xdb:results> to a variable ...

Hi existers,

I'm using xsp and cocoon to query and update a collection.
I have to be able to assign a fragment  of a xml document to a
parameter of a javascript object.

Is there any mechanism to assign the <xdb:results> to a Java variable
or something similar to permit this funcionality?
