Yikes, it's been a year since the last release!
I figure it's about time to fix up a few of the bugs that people have reported, so look for a a new release in the next few weeks
Did a few minor changes for usability (it's still pretty awful, I know) and some extra error checking here and there
Added ability to customize how multi-valued attributes have their values separated
I added a self-signed certificate that should eliminate the stupid macro popup thing. Also included is UTF-8 unicode handling when talking with the directory server (not during authentication though) - this should help when using non US-English characters.
I think I got this thing to work with Active Directory now, yay!
%!@$!#@%!^ goofy Visual Basic errors. On some systems, it seems the "Environ" function won't work, grrrr
Cleaned up what I think were a couple of memory corruption scenarios waiting to happen
After getting all the main features I wanted into ELS, here's the first beta release. Enjoy!
Due to a minor "issue" with some changes I'd made in the installer script, the thing wouldn't install at all if it wasn't already installed. Doh. Fixed.
* The main new feature with this release is the ability for custom LDAP attributes to be defined. Previously, only a few attributes (like name, address, e-mail, etc.) were available for searching and retrieval. Now any attributes can be set up for use in the config file.
* There were a couple of tweaks to the install process (yay Add/Remove Programs item)
A few more bugs were squished, and I made a couple of flash movies (see http://excelldapsearch.sourceforge.net\) to demo how to use this thing.
