#32 Operation cancelled when importing ENEX file

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Export enex file from Evernote (~421MB)
2. Select 'Import ENEX File' and choose the file in E2O
3. Wait about 10 seconds. Bar moves across about 5% then 'Operation cancelled'

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect ~900 notes to load into OneNote. Instead the notebook gets created but is empty, E2O reports 'Operation cancelled'

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
E2O version 1.1.0.161
Evernote 5.3.1.3962
Onenote 2013 (can't see where to get full version number - splash screen goes too quickly)

Please provide any additional information below.
Also attempt to directly import from Evernote instead but also get an error hence trying the ENEX method.

"operation cancelled" only shows if the cancel/start button is clicked or otherwise signaled. That's the only code path where the cancel flag can be set, and only if that flag is set then the "Operation cancelled" message is shown.

I'm 100% sure I'm not pressing it. Is there a cli version or other way to run that can ignore it?
Machine is surface pro with Win8.1, but I've also tried ensuring focus is on a different app to make sure Windows isn't doing something odd.
