Hello Martin, *** This would be a question rather for the etherboot-users mailing list *** <eth...@li...>. I will forward my reply *** there. > in one of "my" schools we have 3 Clinet-PCs with an "unfriendly" BIOS: > * if the BIOS is set to boot from C: then etherboot is ignored. > * if the BIOS is set to boot from network, then etherboot works, but > pressing "L" for booting from local harddisk in the etherboot menu > does not work. > The Network-Card is a PCI Card with rtl8139 > has anyone else noticed a BIOS with such an behaviour ? > I wonder if an BIOS update will help. If you can, set your boot priority in Bios to "Network"->"C:" - I'd expect the "local" boot of etherboot to work then. You might try to play with 5.1.8 - I don't know wether the boot_disk method used there is independent from BIOS solutions. In 5.0.x, you would still have the chance to use an "etherboot menu" - with CAN_BOOT_DISK and specifying "/dev/hda" as boot filename menu option you should be able to accomplish a dual boot. At least for us this works just fine - though I have to admit we use a self-made menu (with 320x200 logo graphics and so) and not that included with etherboot.
