I have tried it here on Kubuntu 8.04 using eSpeak compiled with PortaudioV18, and also on Kubuntu 10.04 using eSpeak compiled with PoetaudioV19. I do not get this effect here. eSpeak does not include code to change the system audio level. I don't think the Portaudio API includes a means for an application to change the system audio level, so I doubt that Portaudio is changing it. |
