The big problem with Farsi (and also other languages which use Arabic script) is that some vowels are not shown in the spelling. So how does text-to-speech know which vowel to use, and where? Another question is, which syllable of a word should be stressed? Farsi is an important language which will be a useful addition to eSpeak, but the spelling-to-phoneme translation rules (fa_rules, fa_list) will probably need a lot of work. What help do you need? |
