I second Ralph's questions, and would also ask why the discussions about any problems that sites are having with the current gateway have not taken place in public on tech-talk? If the software's maintainers (i.e. Ralph and the other core developers) don't know about the problems they can't help you fix them. Personally I would much rather that significant development effort be spent on adding new functionality to the EPICS toolkit. Solving Not-Invented-Here problems dilutes the limited effort that we have. Having private discussions about major development work will result in the EPICS collaboration dying.
