Awhile back I had complained of poor evas benchmark results on the Matrox G400 Max side of the world, and been quite jealous of the nVidia owners. Welp, I'm glad to report that I _finally_ have DRI support under XFree864.0.1 and the crashes on "Signal 11" have ended. I'm now getting 100-130 FPS with hardware rendering under evas_test. Just thought I'd mention it to unsettle some of the nVidia owners, and make sure that thoughs of you with Matrox cards don't go to the dark side <grin> because you think your Matrox is a peice of s***. BTW, Quake3Arena is giving me good FPS too, but not as good as most of the nVidias, admitadly. I'm getting 30-60FPS in 1024x768, 16bit textures, and everything else set to max. I guess the nVidia owners are getting up to 90 FPS with the same settings. <shrug> This info seems to secure Matrox's hold on the supperier "business" card, while lacking slightly in the game market. benr. |
