The vast majority of the time, respawning epplets are caused primarily by the user. Whether it be due to use of gnome-session or another external session manager that duplicates E's remembering functionality, or the sudden killing of E via various signals, or the failure to employ the appropriate building options in E to work around conflicts with these other mechanisms, it's still a user issue. Certainly it would be nice if E handled sudden death a little more cleanly. But the majority of the time, it's not E dying that's the issue. > Why isn't your 'solution' better known, if it is so obvious? There certainly could be a bug in my code. But in the absence of specific information on such a bug, I stand by my belief that such problems are caused primarily by user issues, and secondarily by E's less-than-ideal handling of unexpected exits. My code tries very hard to do the right thing, both in the epplet API and in the epplets I've written. I'm fairly confident that, at least with the epplets I've written, any duplication is caused by something other than the epplets themselves. If, however, someone can prove otherwise, I'm happy to address any such issues. Michael -- Michael Jennings (a.k.a.
