Trying to install Enigmail for the first time. All libraries installed with Macports. Running Mac OSX 10.11.4. Question is, where to intervene. Configure complained of errors and below script shows the issue.

There is nothing in Enigmail that would reqire compiling a C program.

Are you trying to compile gpg? If yes, then this is the wrong forum - we use GnuPG, we don't develop nor compile it. GnuPG support is available from www.gnupg.org. In any case, we recommend that you use a ready to use version of GnuPG, such as the GPGTools available from www.gpgtools.org.
