The current build has me confused. It's asking me to set up certificates on my identity. I installed enigmail on my system with an existing gpg key, which had several identities. Software looks as follows:
gpg (GnuPG) 2.2.4
Enigmail 2.0.12
libgcrypt 1.8.1
which gpg == /usr/bin/gpg
Any help on pointing me to a debug / log window so I can start figuring out what is wrong would be appreciated.
True, however, my problem is I can't figure out how to tell thunderbird/enigmail that this isn't SMIME. Yes, I do have sMIME turned off as an encryption method, but I'm still getting this message. Ideas? I guess my first task should be to look at my config files and see if there's anything worth tweaking. If that doesn't work, perhaps I just need to blow my thunderbird away and reinstall. [did you turn it off and back on again?]
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
When writing a message, open the menu Enigmail and check the used protocol. You might also want open the Account Settings switch to the OpenPGP Security tab and select "Prefer Engimail (OpenPGP) at the bottom of the screen".

If the wording was "certificate", then it was about S/MIME, not OpenPGP. This is a Thunderbird feature, not Enigmail.
