Thunderbird crash reproducible when try to send an email which is signed but not encrypted and no message was given (only a subject text was available).

The crash do not occur if the email was only encrypted OR encrypted and signed.

Tested with Thunderbird 60.5.3, Enigmail 2.0.9 on OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) with GnuPG 2.2.12.

If Thunderbird really crashes, then the Enigmail log will not contain the last steps before the crash. Instead, please submit the Crash Report to Mozilla and tell me the crash ID.

I'm sorry, but I there are no relevant details in the crash details. You really need to submit the crash report to Mozilla and then tell me the crash ID. If you already submitted the crash, you can find the crash ID via menu Help > Troubleshooting Information -> Crash Reports

The crash signature is identical to the one in Mozilla bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1482248 . Even though the bug may be triggered in your case by Enigmail, I don't think it's fixable in Enigmail (and in fact it was fixed in Thunderbird for version 63).

  That's a pity that it cannot be fixed in Enigmail for the latest stable Thunderbird ESR release.
  In general that's bad news especially for people in companies which need to use an ESR release or cannot always use the latest development/beta releases.

All I know is publicly available in the bug report. As I wrote, the bug was fixed for TB 63; that is, it will be part of the next major release (TB 68). But it does not look like the bug was backported to TB 60, and given that the last update on the bug was 6 months ago, I don't think it's likely to happen.
