Bug 24814 migrated from Mozdev.org

Enigmail usually does not inform the user, if a gpg process running in the
background takes a longer time. Good GUIs should display "something" if a
reaction to a user action lasts longer then 1.5 or 2 seconds.

Possible measures:

  • Change mouse pointer (sandglass)
  • Progress meter in the bottom of the window (as in keymanager when loading
    keys)
  • Dialog, if reaction takes longer than xx seconds (xx could be 20 or 60...)

    a) This is not possible.
    b) Since this bug was opened, a few things changed in Thunderbird. Foremost: GnuPG execution happens in the background, such that you can't display such information without blocking something else.
