I am subscribed to the Ubuntu security mailing list. Emails are sent to this list with attached signatures (signature.asc). When looking at these emails on a Mac, the signature is recognized by Enigmail and it indicates that there is a good signature. However, when looking at these email on a Windows machine, the signature is not recognized.
I have saved the same sample email as a file on both machines and have verified that the MD5 sums are identical.
I have attached a zip with three files: the email itself and the debug logs from both the Windows and Mac machines. I have obfuscated my email address and usernames in all files.
Looking at the log files, on the Mac, you have line 65 "enigmailMessengerOverlay.js: embedded objects: / 1.1" and on the Windows machine, on line 73 you have "enigmailMessengerOverlay.js: embedded objects: /"
Can you please try the latest version 1.5.2? I released it yesterday, there is no automatic update yet, you'll have to download it from http://www.enigmail.net.
Sorry, but I see the same behaviour in 1.5.2. Do you want the log files from 1.5.2?
How are the messages stored that you get from the mailing list? Newsgroup, IMAP server, or locally stored (using POP)?
The messages are sent to a Gmail account and I am accessing them via IMAP. BTW, everything works fine if the signature is sent inline with the original text as opposed to as an attachment.
Let me know if you want me to gather any additional log files or technical detail.
Thanks!
I can reproduce this on Windows.
It seems that Windows behaves a little different than Mac OS X. I fixed the bug, it will be part of the next release (and of the nightly builds).
That great news! Thanks for your efforts and quick fix.
