I have solved the problems with the Philips player.
Very soon I will make a new release with the necessary changes.

In the mean time, you can already make "almost" good avi for the
Philips player.

You need to add these options to the command line:
-vf harddup -setaspect <n> -vbitrate 4000 (or lower)

Every combination of -encode n:m:i works except -encode 1:m:i,
but that's not a problem. Who needs pcm audio in an avi?
