Is there any way to disable any and all prompts such as: "WARNING you have an unsupported version of MPlayer [GNU] you need MPlayer 1.0pre7 or a later stable relase, encode2mpeg can fail Press return to proceed" I'm aware of the fact... but it would be nice to not see this since it make= s it difficult to do batch encoding (many encode runs in a row, automatically). -- Adam Monsen http://adammonsen.com/blog/ |

I have already reported it on the list (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=8247492&forum_id=46309) The answer is that vbr mp3 audio cannot be used in Mpeg Mode with MPlayer 1.0pre7 If you need mp3, you should use -encode 5:4:2 or -encode 2:4:2 (the first one should give better audio quality). This bug should disappear once MPlayer 1.0pre8 is relased. Cheers. Giacomo |

Hi, I'm trying to correct the sound when I export any clip to NTSC. With my own recordings the unsync is more severe but it's not good in downloaded .mpg's either. My command line encode2mpeg -o DVD-ahatakeonme.mpg ahatakeonme.mpg -n n -dvd -mpeg -mpegfixaspect -encode 3:4:2 -mpegonly Are there any encode2mpeg switches I must add for NTSC sound to stay there or should I do any post-processing? Regards, Roger Andreassen. |

Announcing the relase of encode2mpeg 0.5.2 This relase contains only some internal code cleanup that is totally transparent for the end user. I have relased it only because I left in 0.5.1 some debug code that may cause confusion. Giacomo |

I post the details here. This problem appears because some code has changed in 0.5.0. In few places instead of named pipe I use now /dev/fd/4 The new code is simpler and avoid some potential problems in case of errors. On linux it works (may be it wont work with very ancient kernel like 1.2.x). On non linux system, the default system configuration may have some features disabled. Osmany uses FreeBDS and for him it was necessary to do: mount -t fdescfs fdescfs /dev/fd A change in /etc/fstab fixed definitively the problem. Giacomo |

There is a problem with MPlayer 1.0pre7's mpeg muxer. The audio/video sync is far from perfect, and it does not work at all with vbr audio. Therefore the usage of -encode 3:m:i in Mpeg Mode will produce incorrect results. Do not use it. This problem do not exist in the CVS MPlayer, so next stable relase of MPlayer will work fine. If you are not satisfied with the a/v sync in Mpeg Mode, you can try to use CVS MPlayer. encode2mpeg 0.5.0 will issue a warning, but it should work. Giacomo |

Hello, there is a bug in encode2mpeg 0.5.0 that shows up if you use Mpeg Mode with the options '-encode 0:m:i -vcd' and that just makes encode2mpeg do nothing. The fix is simple: edit encode2mpeg (0.5.0), go to line 3820 and change it from: [[ $a != mp3 ]] && echo "**ERROR: [$PROGNAME] you cannot copy $a audio in a $frameformat" ; exit 1 to: [[ $a != mp3 ]] && echo "**ERROR: [$PROGNAME] you cannot copy $a audio in a $frameformat" && exit 1 This is an annoing bug, therefore I will probably relase a new version including also the fix soon. Hi, thank you for this mailing list. Sure hope I'm able to contribute something here. Roughly how many users are there of encode2mpeg? Hope to see a lot of traffic here. The most interesting projects for me are cli (I'd like a gui for my brother though). Regards, Roger. |

With the relase of encode2mpeg 0.5.0, I have activated this mailing list. There are a significant number of users of encode2mpeg and it is time now to give them a common place where to ask questions and look for answers and suggestions. Happy encoding. Giacomo Comes |
