Ok, that order (insmoding ac97_codec first and then emu10k1) worked,
lsmod shows now that both modules are loaded but i can't still hear any sound.
The emu-config tools also still show the same error messages when starting 
them.

When unloading the modules again and using modprobe instead of insmod
lsmod shows also that both modules where loaded, 
but the sound does still not work.

I think the insmod error was, like you said before because of the wrong order 
the modules were loaded, but the reason why i can't still hear anything must 
be some sort
of driver bug or the problem with not being able to use the emu-config tools 
to change the volume level or something like that.



I also tried to increase the volume level via kmixer, kmixer seemed to work 
but i can't still hear anything. Arts the KDE sound demon has also problems 
finding a sound device, althouh the emu10k1 driver modules are loaded.
