The game crashes sometimes when i try to change levels, but it's guaranteed NOT to happen if there's a sound that plays during the loading screen. (E.G. between 01 and 02, there's that dramatic sound that plays during the Jurassic splash screen, so 02 always loads fine.)

It also happens fairly consistently (~80% of the time) when the music has to change abruptly in a mission. A good example is the Hand of Time mission (Mr Wizard!), in that future-ship hallway where the music track switches over in between the two elevator rides. Same goes for Sword of Homecoming -- the game will often crash about a second after tossing Excalibur in the water (which initiates a music change) or once the changed music is over.

Are you playing with the version of AlephOne that comes with the EMR download? If so, please try to download the latest SDL and replace the old one.

This seems to have solved the crashing problem at the expense of making the missions unplayable. The music never changes at all. Mauvair never spawns any teleport zombies (or teleports at all), nor does the cave open. As for Sword, the (throwable) sword itself doesn't show up in the locker, thus making it impossible to proceed. I have a feeling the scripts aren't being read correctly by the game.

For the record, I later tried patching Quest as well, and using the standard EMR .exe. Results were about the same, but with the added problem that chairs were now satellite dishes and trees were now hydrants. Some of the background palettes were color-inverted as well.

Trying both at once (patched Quest and latest AlephOne) failed to turn two wrongs into a right.

I recall now that the latest version does crash the Lua scripts.

According to the AlephOne developer, here is a link to the last version of Aleph One that supports EMR's Lua scripts:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/marathon/files/Aleph%20One/2011-07-31/AlephOne-20110731.dmg/download

Granted, that is the Mac version. If you're looking for the Windows version, I imagine you would look for a similar date, 2011-07-31, but for Windows.

That (along with reverting to the earlier Quest.sceA) seems to have done it! Thanks for the help :D
