The coverage meta-data is written in my project to the
basedir in the file coverage.ec and not in the default
value of the
maven.emma.coverage.out.file property. Even if I
override this property, it is still ignored when the
coverage data is generated during a emma enabled java run.
This results in that the reporting plugin can't find
the metadata and reports nothing. I've tested this by
moving the coverage file to the emma data dir and
running the report goal and then it does generate a
report.
So my guess is that the property
maven.emma.coverage.out.file isn't read when generating
the coverage data.
Also when I do add the following line:
maven.emma.coverage.out.file=coverage.ec to my
properties, the reporting goal finds the data, so the
reporting goal seems to read the property just fine

This is not the case. I was mistaken. So it seems the
property is just not used correctly anywhere
