On one of my computers the boot pauses forever after it says:
Freeing kernel memory: 136K freed
(or something similar to that)
I can still type things on the screen, and when I press ctrl-alt-del it writes
md something on the screen then resets the machine and the same thing happens again.
works ok on another machine.
I have:
K6-II 500,
Gigabyte 5AA mobo
sparkle gf4mx440
256 MB ram.
SB Live Value!
Realtek NIC
8GB WD HDD
40GB WD HDD
Fujitzu 24x CD-ROM

Linux never runs well on any AMD system that I know of. I used 2 AMD systems in the past one k6-2 500 and a duron 1.2ghz system and they always ran at about half there posted speeds. I tell everyone if they want to run linux get a pentium. My current hardware is:
Main
P4 (celeron) 1.7ghz
Saphire socket 478 board
512mb pc133
2x WD 40gb drives
HB burner and Hi-val DVD
Laptop Compaq presario 1600-xl145
P3 600
64mb ram
6gb internal and 8 gb external drives
DVD
Both systems are running full RedHat 7.3 distro.
