Yes in most cases it is better to fix Linux problems rather than just reinstall. The only times I've seen the need for a total wipe and reinstall is with the BDI-Live because many of the associated linux binary packages are not included with the install cd so you can not rebuild individual systems. I've never heard of a problem quite like this where only a single axis responds -- and the specific axis is the one that was homed first. If indeed it can be any of them then the problem seems to be an EMC issue. The only system that starts with green position letters is the Mini graphical interface with both minimilltask and minimillio. I believe that I'd try to start generic.run from a terminal in /usr/local/emc using the command ./generic.run. and see if tkemc comes up and allows you to jog any axis. You should be able to jog an axis before you home any of them. Get back with the results. Ray |
