I am new to the EMC list, i have a background in electronics technology and worked in the IT field for several years networking. I have an asian bridgeport style mill I would like to fit for cnc use. From what I gather I would need about 600in/oz steppers to drive the table and knee. My questions were regarding the various hardware to drive them, I have seen pci cards and drive amplifying boxes that are external as well as breakout boards. But no real info on the differences. Power supply external would be no problem as I could scratch build to total current and voltage specs. What I am wondering is what is required minimum for three axis stepper control using serial or parallel port on the pc. I had a bit of confusion about how all the different controler cards of the pci variety worked in how they interface with the motors etc.. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different methods? I'd prefer to stay away from servos. . Also please include any links to drive products that go b/t parallel/serial port and stepper motors that are known to work well with EMC. Any schematics for the build it yourselfers? Thanks for replys Mike __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start. We finish. http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail |
