cd /usr/local/emc/plat/rtlinux_3_0/lib && wget http://emc.obstinate.org/freqmod.o This is for 2.18, dir structure might be different for other versions. At sherline, with out motors we have found that the z-axis will skip a few steps on an program with lots of quick up and down movement (we use a program that mills a small heart pendant) if we run at our maximum recommended feedrate of 22 inches / min. We have found that lowering the feedrate will eliminate the problem with the z axis. Because it is fighting gravity it needs to run much slower so that the motor can create more torque to move the axis up and down in very small increments without skipped steps. -- tbl ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Engvall" <den...@ch...> To: <emc...@li...> Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2003 7:28 AM Subject: Re: [Emc-users] Steppermod vs Freqmod > Tim, > Check with Matt Shaver about a newer version of freqmod that fixes the > problems. > > Dave > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tim & Heather Smith" <thd...@bi...> > To: <emc...@li...> > Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2003 4:29 AM > Subject: [Emc-users] Steppermod vs Freqmod > > > > Guys, I was interested to read (in another recent thread), that there may > be > > a problem with freqmod missing some steps when running contouring files > with > > many small incremental steps. > > > > I recently ran a program (a couple of times) that went for several hrs, it > > lost some steps( Z axis) both times, and I have been blaming my > drivers/poor > > grounding etc for these results. > > > > It was mentioned (Ray I think) that Steppermod did not have the same > > problem. > > > > I would be interested to know what the conditions are that contribute to > > these lost steps in freqmod.
