Oops, I pressed send a tad too soon. Perhaps not so obviously, one can 
modify the MakeHALGraph.py script to generate the diagram in other 
formats besides SVG, typically including PostScript, XFIG, FrameMaker 
graphics, HPGL, PCL, PNG, GIF, DIA (interesting, this last one!).
