Hi Peter; With that much I/O it would be hard to beat a good PLC. Atleast that is=20 my opinion on the subject. With a PLC you have what should be fairly=20 reliable industrial I/O ready to go. The intergration of motion is an issue, the best approach depends on=20 exactly what you are doing with the motions. In any event the bigger issues with stuff like this is making sure the=20 machine meets the newer safety standards. That may require additional=20 hardware.
