Yes, hooray for you. As you get the opportunity you might add some info regarding your setup to wiki.linuxcnc.org. I'd start by building the current sensing device that you want to use and connect it to one of the analog inputs on the Motenc. Then you should be able to watch this signal in the HAL. Once you've got that signal working properly, it will be near impossible for the HAL authors to resist the urge to first rig up an in-HAL work around for your problem and second it will be difficult for them to not build a proper EMC path for those signals.
