Hello, I'm setting up my first CNC and first EMC system to control a Taig mini-mill with a Xylotex board. I'm using EMC BDI 4.20. I have been following the instructions from the PDF version of the EMC Hanbook. The Xylotex board requires the following pin settings: x step = 2 x dir = 3 y step = 4 y dir = 5 z step = 6 z dir = 7 I'm not sure what the defaults are set at in EMC. In the .ini file under the (Axis_0) section I found: Dir_Index = 0 Step_Index = 1 The other two axes increment these numbers by one. Are these in-fact the pin numbers for the axis? I read the PDF handbook and the newer html version and both seem to skip over the above two settings. Can I simply change them for the first axis to read: Dir_Index = 2 Step_Index = 3 ...which would take care of the X axis. The thing that has me confused and reluctant to just try the numbers is that at the bottom of the .ini fie there is the EMCIO section. That section has index numbers that overlap some of the numbers used in the 3 default axes. Finally, when you assign a pin, do you always use its "number" as opposed to its "letter + number"? For example, is pin 14 called out as "14", "C1", or "1"? Thanks for the help, Nick |
