Dear eLML-Users I finally completed the transformation files for mobile (smartphone) format and committed the XSLT files to the core yesterday. The technology used is jQuery and jQuery Mobile (http://jquerymobile.com) where the final version 1.0 was just released a week ago. Now I am looking for beta-testers that are willing to give me feedback before going public with the announcement. If you want to test it right away, point your Smartphone (iPhone, Android, etc.) to the mobile version of the eLML website: http://www.elml.org/website/en/mobile/index.html --> How does it work? You need to have the developer release of eLML installed to try the new mobile transformation. Update the core and make sure that you have a "mobile" folder in the presentation folder of the eLML core (next to online, print etc.). Now use this elml.xsl-file to transform your lesson and look for a new folder also called "mobile" within your lessons subfolder (next to the html-folder etc.). Open the index.html with your mobile phone (or iPad) and have a detailed look at the optimized mobile version of your lesson. --> Whats the difference to ePub? ePub is an XML/HTML-based format to package eBooks and the format became even more popular when Apple started to use it in their iPads. eLML also supports ePub so you can transform both formats and see for yourself which format you like better. The advantage with ePub is that you have one (ZIP) file that you can distribute, the disadvantage is that you have to do more (CSS) styling yourself than with jQuery Mobile (ok, some of you would call this advantage, its up to you :-) --> Why didnt you use SenchaTouch? Because I once went to a jQuery Mobile presentation and I immediately liked the simplicity, clarity and nice integration into HTML5 (a format also supported by eLML since this year). But maybe one day I'll also add support for SenchaTouch. Or maybe one of you will? :-) Greetings from foggy Zurich Joël -------------------------------------------------------------------- Joël Fisler University of Zurich Multimedia & E-Learning Services (MELS) Winterthurerstrasse 190 CH-8057 Zürich Phone: +41 44 63 55252 or "joelfisler" (Skype) Mail: joe...@id...
