    Hello!
I wanted to know if optimal placement and sizing of storage can be done in OpenDSS. I am in the starting phase of my research and also I am a beginner in OpenDSS. Either we can use OpenDSS COM interface with MATLAB or we can perform Real time analysis in softwares like RTDS by using the results of OpenDSS.
I have a 315 node system with PV penetration and a problem of overvoltage during low loading. For this I want to integrate storage in my system. I am in confusion whether starting with OpenDSS will help or not.

I would think that it would be a whole lot easier to do the analysis on OpenDSS than to set the problem up on RTDS. Formulate your optimization algorithm in MATLAB, or whatever, and utilize OpenDSS through the COM interface to see how the distribution system will behave.

I'm curious: Why do you need real time to optimize placement and sizing of storage?

Thank you so much, sir, for the reply. I will use RTDS to validate the
results of the storage capacity determined using the steady-state analysis
of the system. Is there any example given for optimal sizing of battery in
      OpenDSS?
