Amazon AWS has recently released functionality on EC2 that:

- creates the notion of static IP addresses that are associated with an AWS account - not just an EC2 instance. Address is static and can be associated with your running instance.
- allow specification of instance availability zones, you can make sure your instances are spread across different physical locations for improved resiliency.

I used this Firefox extension to control my running instances and it would be great to include these features.

Support for Elastic IPs and Availability Zones has been added in r35. This request will be closed when there is an official build.
