Somewhat simple. Basically, would it be possible to
implement a variable that would be able to change the
Screen Flash effect for things like getting hurt,
picking up items, and so on? I'm not sure if this
already exists, so I apologize.
Such a variable would allow for some neat effects.
There could be two variables, one for pickup
flashes(PICKUP_FLASH) and pain flashes(PAIN_FLASH).
Pickup flashes would be used to define what color the
screen flashes when you pick up an item, say a deep
blue for the health bottles or a gray for armor
helments. Pain flashes would determine what color the
screen flashes when hit.
If the PAIN_FLASH variable is defined for armor, the
screen will flash that color if the player is hit while
wearing that kind of armor. For example, if you get hit
with green armor, the screen flashes green. This would
be a visual indicator letting the player know what
color armor they are wearing.
I was inspired partially by the old Doom engine game
Chex Quest. Instead of flashing red, the screen would
flash green, the same color as the Flemoids. I wasn't
sure if this was possible in EDGE, so I decided to
suggest this.
I'm not sure how easy this would be to implement,
considering that screen flashes are partially
determined by the palette Doom uses.

This can already be done in RTS. Granted it takes more
work than having a specific feature for it, but it is
still quite easily possible.
The armor-specific flashes might not be possible though,
since all armors, regardless of their colours, add to the
one and same armour value in-game.
Ask me for more details if you need them.
