For general purposes, there ought to be a Variables
system for DDF (and possibly RTS as well). The chief
purpose for variables would become apparent in
weapons.ddf - for example, using variables in
conjunction with warmup states and a refire command,
one could create a plasma pistol that delivers a
stronger blast depending on how high the variable is
whenever the trigger is released.

Another way to use this feature would be to make
togglable firing modes, a la Counter-Strike - say, from
the usage of Nofire_Return commands and variable
setting commands, the Secattack states would change a
single variable which is checked in the primary attack,
and would jump to the respective state (like toggling
weapon attachments, or selecting ammo types).

I can see some uses in Attacks and Things.ddf as well,
but I can't be bothered to think of them now.
