I am a packager for Salix and NuTyX. I also maintain a couple of Arch User Repository and Slackbuilds.org packages. I have installed EDE on Salix with Andrew Tkalia's SlackBuild and have added "Server = http://ede.elderlinux.org/repos/archlinux/$arch" to my /etc/pacman.conf on Arch.

I really like the Equinox Desktop Environment and my enthusiasm is shared by the founder and head developer of NuTyX. He has posted in this dicussion under the name kiao.

I notice the Arch EDE packages are split up into ede.bin, ede-common, ede-doc, ede-wallpapers and ede-wm. I would like use this same method for EDE Pkgfiles on the NuTyX distribution.

I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the PKGBUILD used to make these arch packages, that I might use as a template for creating a NuTyX Pkgfile.

Hi Chris! I create most of the packages for for the official EDE repository, including the Arch ones. For that reason I do of course have the PKGBUILDs for it. Splitting up the desktop into several packages was actually an experiment; most people seem to have no problem with that (at least I have not heard anything negative). Glad you like it!

Originally I had intended to write to keenerd (maintainer of EDE on the AUR) but currently the PKGBUILDs for EDE are not exactly what I'd like them to be before making them public... I use two PKGBUILDS (because ede-common and ede-wallpapers are architecture independent), do a full fakeroot install and then remove the directories/files that go into other packages. Certainly not nice but it works.

Still I can send you the PKGBUILDs if you wish. I've added a contact line on ede.elderlinux.org, just drop me a mail and I'll upload them for you.

It's great to hear that you intend to package EDE for more distros! If you make them and point me to it, I'll happily host them on the official repo and add them on the wiki. Just get in touch.

BTW: The current release (2.1) does not build with FLTK 1.3.3 or GCC 5.x and I've seen NuTyX uses GCC 5.2. Both issues (as well as some more) are already fixed on the SVN repo and a new release is expected to be out soon. I'll also help building packages if I can. Will have to take a look at NuTyX anyways, it looks nice and obviously has been around for quite a while!
