Hi, I'm Richard from mrgender at shaw dot ca

I installed v0.2 with my Administrator account and it
works fine from when used from that account to trap
ed2k links.

When I log off and back in using a regular user account,
the utility fails when attempting to trap an ed2k link.

The Windoz error is:

AppName: ed2k link catch0r.exe
AppVer: 0.2.0.0
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1217
Offset: 0000b2ab

I wonder if this is due to permissions somehow (ie, when
the utility attempts to run when a regular user clicks on
an ed2k link, it can't since a regular user doesn't have
the requisite permissions for it to run ... or perhaps when
run as a regular user the utility cannot write to a file or
directory it expects to, again due to permissions)?

As an aside, I'm curious as to how does this utility traps
he links?

My system: WinXP Pro SP1

Thx,

Richard

update #1 from mrgender at shaw dot ca

Using the Administrator account I changed the permissions on
the "ed2k links.txt" and "ed2k links backup.txt" files so they
    were writable by regular users.

From a regular user account it appears that the utility now
catches ed2k links and writes them to the "ed2k links.txt" file
OK (it didn't write anything to this file before I made this
change). It makes sense that this is what it should be able
    to do.

(( if this is how the utility should work, as part of the
installation process I suggest that you have these 2 files
created with permissions to allow write access by regular
    users ))

But now the trapped links are not submitted to my eMule
client (which is running). So, it appears there is something
else that is not working. This seems to be very similar to a
bug already submitted as "[ 1070333 ] No client opens".
