Hi, here comes patches for Push All operation. It works now (if you select "last repository..."). Also there is trivial error in validating SendAll Dialog which basically prevented it from working. 2007/3/14, Leif Frenzel <lei...@go...>: > Hi Radek, > > this is great :-) I'll see that I get it integrated as soon as possible. > > A small thing that I noticed: should we also update the mirror update site > at http://eclipsedarcs.org/updates/ ? From the text on the > wiki, it says this is a daily mirror, so I thought that there is a script > that automatically copies the stuff from the sf server, but at least so far > that has not happened, it seems. Thanks for reminding me. Due to breakage to my home server I lost whole content, including this script and haven't recreated it so far. I will look into it soon. Thanks, Radek. |

2007/3/12, Leif Frenzel <lei...@go...>: > Hi everybody, > > I have just uploaded the release files of the 0.3 release. I haven't changed > the software (apart from the changelog in the Help system), so there is > nothing new if you already had the release candidate build. The files are > available on the project update site at > http://eclipsedarcs.sf.net/updates and on the sourceforge > file release site as a packaged update site. I have updated version info on http://eclipsedarcs.org , I have also updated required java version (which I believe is now minimum 1.5.0) and required Eclipse version (which I am not sure. Does eclipsedarcs still runs on 3.1.x series??). BTW. "What's new" link is broken on the main page. It used to point to a page on Leif's server. What should I do about it? I have also bumped freshmeat.net eclispedarcs page. I have no access to sf.net site to make an announcement. Thanks, Radek. |

Hi everybody, I have just uploaded the release files of the 0.3 release. I haven't changed the software (apart from the changelog in the Help system), so there is nothing new if you already had the release candidate build. The files are available on the project update site at http://eclipsedarcs.sf.net/updatesand on the sourceforge file release site as a packaged update site. Thanks && ciao, Leif -- Leif Frenzel http://leiffrenzel.de http://cohatoe.blogspot.com |

Hi, > But in general, I'd say that Darcs is quite well suited for use. (And we > should keep in mind that there are problems with CVS or SVN or whatever > other systems, too :-) My main motivation behind switching VCS from SVN to Darcs is branching. We have quite complicated work model. There are two teams that does a work on one code base which are branched and synchronized once in a while. Also there is "production" branch. Now, merging changes between teams and then uploading selected patches to the production code with SVN is NIGHTMARE. No help from the system whatsoever. Also this repository is pretty large. Either we switch VCS or work model. Thanks again, Radek. |

So what were the problems that > you heard of? Thank you very much for sharing this. My concerns comes mainly from from darcs mailing list. Like this: http://lists.osuosl.org/pipermail/darcs-users/2007-March/010871.html I myself have exprienced problems with medium to large repositories (up to 40 MB). Resources went dry on my server box while doing INITIAL record of whole content. I know that David Roundy is working on issue with conflicts but I did not hear much progress about that. Also Windows support is kinda messy with darcs and unfortunatly company I work for did a switch in its profile and now we are doing windows software (I really regret this decision). Thanks again for sharing this, Radek. |

I hope I can dedicate a bit more time to it in the next months. This is offtopic, but if you could share what is your exprience with darcs on your multi-user project? I am team leader in new project in company, where I work, and I would like to propose change in VCS (from SVN which sucks in branching and I do it a lot) but lately, I've heard very bad things about darcs and large projects/multi-programmer projects. All projects, where I used darcs are small, 1-2 commiters only. Thanks, Radek. |

I would love to call darcs api directly instead of parsing what it spits on standard output but such a task will overwhelm me for sure. Mainly because I fail to switch my thinking to Haskell (in reallity I simply had not enough time to finish any tutorial ;) ) so I can't write any code (except quicksort ;) ). Cheers, Radek. P.S. They were just some small bugfixes. I've just pushed them :-) About the cherry-pick-recording: I've had a few ideas about this lately, but to write the testing code is a bit of work, and I haven't had much time in the past months. But I agree that this is one of the most important things that need to be addressed. Btw, there may be another thing that could help us in the more long term: http://leiffrenzel.de/eclipse/cohatoe/ I'm working on integrating Haskell code more tightly in Eclipse, so that you can call stuff directly. This may even work with Darcs, so that we could be able to call Darcs directly for stuff. One problem of course is that there needs to be more of a structured Darcs API (and preferably under a more friendly license than the GPL is). I think that might get interesting one day. Hi Radek && everybody, I have pushed the patches I've mentioned and made a build as 0.3 release candidate. I have not yet updated the docs, changelog and so on, and I have not yet tested, but if you want to have a look at it, it can be downloaded as an archived update site here: http://leiffrenzel.de/eclipse/archive/site_eclipsedarcs_0.3.0_RC.zip I will do some testing later on and provide a second release candidate then. Hi, Long time no hear. ;) Leif, please consider releasing 0.2.4 as an official release. 0.2.0 sucks right now and cannot find out whether file is in repository or not, 0.2.4 doesn't have this flaw. Also 0.2.4 has some neat features that quite a few ppl would like to use (including me). Also, just for everyone: Eclipsedarcs 0.2.x is not compatible with darcs 1.0.7 on windows, use 1.0.8 from here. http://glozer.net/darcs/ . I've just lost two hours, debugging code to find that. ;) Thanks, Radek. |

I've seen this before. It seems to be a general problem with Darcs 1.0.7. The executable works fine in the command line, but for some reason we get this error when we call it from the plugin. If it is Darcs 1.0.7 and you don't have any particular reason not to use Darcs 1.0.8, I would recommend to update to 1.0.8. If this happens with 1.0.8 - hmm ... Hello, I am using the EclipseDarcs 0.2.0 plugin to Eclipse on a Windows 2000 Professional platform. In the package explorer the action "Team/Share Project.../Darcs" does not work. (A) When a _darcs directory does not yet exist in the project directory, I get the following: Darcs: PATH: getEnv: does not exist (no environment variable) (B) When I do "darcs init" manually on the command line and then repeat "Team/Share Project.../Darcs", I get the message: Project 'MyProj' contains linked URIs but the 'org.eclipsedarcs.core.repository.DarcsProvider' repository provider does not support them. What can I do? Thanks, Hubert |

hi I've build Darcs' source twice and stumbled across the same problem "Preference Page Creation Problem . Reason:plug-in org.eclipsedarcs.ui was unable to load class org.eclipsedarcs.internal.ui.preferences.DarcsPreferencePage" I believed I loaded the source the right way- each folder as project like the directory structure from "darcs get". I tried both Eclipse 3.2, 3.1 but to no avail Any suggestions? Cheers Zi Bin |
