#3 Support for other flavours of IDL
There are several other IDL-like languages around. The two I've considered the most likely to develop for are:
SLICE (the definition language for ICE)
AIDL (Android IDL, from the Google Android project)
ECP could be modified with a little effort to support these languages, sharing some of the editor/browser code.

The ThriftIDL looks similar to CORBA but with numerical argument identifiers
