I am using IBM Rational Software Architect version 6.0.1. I recently downloaded the Checkstyle plugin version 4.3.2. When I use this version in RSA and apply Checkstyle fixes with the context menu "Apply Checkstyle fixes" nothing happens (when using the package explorer) or I get the error: Fix Checkstyle markers (Error: Error ). This error occurs when I use the navigator. Also a single Checkstyle fix isn't applied automatically. Has someone any idea what the problem is? Note that I use a external configuration file voor Checkstyle. When I use the standard Sun Checks the same problems occur.
Any help is welcome. Thanks,
Ron

Unfortunately I get the same errors in RAD 7 when applying the fixes. It should work in RAD 7, also when I still compile my code against 1.4?
Furthermore I notice that an individual quick fix works in RAD 7 with the 4.1 plugin, but not with 4.3.
Note that when I use RAD 7 I no longer have the checkstyle icons in front of my sources when opening the source folder. They are there in the package explorer, but not in the navigator.
Kind regards,
Ron

Hmm, I am using RAD 7 too at work and didn't notice any problems with the quickfixes.
Although, I am regularly using the "Fix Checkstyle violations" action using the keyboard shortcut (CTRL-ALT-C).
I need to re-test.
In the meantime it would certainly be helpful if you filed a bug report.
Regarding the icon I am unsure which icons you are pointing at. Do you mean the icons in the left hand side bar of the Java Editor?

Lars

Hi,
yes, this is a known issue.
RAD 6.x is based on Eclipse 3.0 and does not support Java5 code.
Because the quickfixes rely on this ability they do not work in Eclipse 3.0 and probably never will be.
Sorry I can't give better news.

Eclipse 3.0 is a dying base anyway, since its successors are far better in performance and usability (not to speak of Java 5 syntax support).
Those unlucky corporate RAD 6 users need to hassle their management for an upgrade ;-)

Hello Lars,
Thanks for your quick reply. Can you tell me if there are more features which don't work with Eclipse 3.0? Is this documented somewhere?
Regards,
Ron
Hi Ron,
there is just one more feature (a new implementation of the FilesInSyncFilter, read here http://eclipse-cs.sourceforge.net/releasenotes/4.3.1/release_notes.html) which doesn't work with Eclipse 3.0.
And I am sorry to say that this isn't specifically documented.
Eclipse 3.0 is a dying base anyway, since its successors are far better in performance and usability (not to speak of Java 5 syntax support).
